Kanga skirt Outfit of the Day

Hi everyone! I am sorry for the utter lack of posts on this blog. I have been finding it hard to find time and inspiration for blogging. I thought I would post an outfit I wore yesterday as I thought it was fun and something different that others would enjoy seeing. Jennie Chancey from Sense and Sensibility patterns is living over seas in Africa and has been selling material called a kanga. Be sure to check out her eBay store often to see if she has any new pieces of material in stock. Each piece of fabric is unique and has a saying written on it in a particular African language. Each saying has a blessing or proverb or other message on it. Mine is a blessing, but I forget what it says. I will post that when I find the paper I wrote the translation onto.

My sister Bethany made my skirt for my birthday at the beginning of the month. You can check out her blog post about it here. My scarf was a gift from my mom for Easter and my top is the brand  Liz Claiborne from J C Penney. I love that store! My shoes were from a local shoe store I cannot remember the name of last summer. Sorry for not remembering. They are quite comfy and go with everything.

We are having brilliant spring weather lately here in the USA! I love the weather, but I could pass on the high pollen count. Anyone else dealing with seasonal allergies besides me? Are any of you doing anything special this weekend? My sister and I are going to watch Snow White and the Huntsman tonight to start it out. We have not seen it yet so I cannot say my thoughts on it. I am sure I will have a loads of things I don't like about it to say. Would any of be interested in movie reviews by me? I have thought about doing movie reviews and thought I myself would enjoy reading them. Let me know in the comments!

My family and I will also celebrate another work week done by going to the new burger joint in our town called Elevation Burger. I can't wait! Tomorrow we will be getting the house ready for a single ladies get together after church on Sunday my sister, mom and I have planned. We will have food and fellowship and watch a movie called Shadow lands about C.S. Lewis's life. I can't wait! Its going to be great having all the young women get together.

God bless!

Bohemian meets 1930s Outfit of the day

I am sorry in advance for the poor sound quality of the video with the wind and the lawn mowers at the end. Enjoy anyway though!

I asked the lady who made the hat if she could make it without chains like the one in her shop and she kindly obliged. So do ask if you don't want chains on the side with the bow and she can do that. I love the  big bow a lot!

Please excuse my headphones, I was walking and wanted music to listen to.

My pashmina scarf is from a store called Compass, which is only in Texas unfortunately. The snowflake necklace from Ashley was fun to wear when the snow came and I love how it sparkles.

My hat is from Felt Fancy's Esty shop and my necklace was given to me by Ashley from Bramblewoodfashion.

God bless!

I heart Thursdays

This week I have been loving listen to Russell Crowe sing Stars from Les Miserables. At first when I saw the movie I did not like him, but now that I have listened to him and other actors who played Javier I prefer his vocals. You can say," Rebecca you are crazy!" if you like, but I love his interpretation of Javier compared to some of the more harsh vocals other actors have brought to the table.

I have also been loving Emmy Rossum's music. I loved her in Phantom of the Opera and thought she fell off the face of the planet, but apparently she did an album. I wish she would do some more music now!

I especially have been loving a youtuber this week, its Mallory from mallorylovesmakeup.
Her video series on curly hair has really be helpful for me since I have curly hair. She also has a lot of fun makeup videos and hauls too.

I love this hair style and I have rocking it whenever I have 3 day hair thats not cooperating with me. Its easy and I always get lots of compliments on it. The picture of Jessica Brown Findlay from Downton Abby who plays Lady Sybil.

Another great example of the hair style as well from pinterest. I also love her fair skin and red lips. Today I am going to try to find a red lipstick that is wearable for day wear at the drugstore. Pray I find something. :) It seems like its trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Another great example of what a crown braid looks like. I am going to try and get a picture of me with the crown braid this coming week. I may even do a tutorial to post on youtube too. Let me know if any of you are interested!

Head over to Ashleys blog to link up too!

Healthy Hair Treatment Tutorial

Hello everyone!

I thought I would film myself doing the hair treatment I talked about in January. Everyone seemed so interested and I thought this video would be a welcome help to those who wanted to try it. If you have any questions, want to try it, or have tried it please comment. I love to hear from all of you! I know I have not posted in over a month and I can't promise lots of posts, but I have some ideas in mind for future posts. I hope to be posting some more before the end of the month is out. Oh and big thanks to my sister Bethany for filming this! I could not have made the video without her.

God bless!

Indie Chic Outfit of the Day

Hey friends!

I have thought about where to go with my blog and what to post about. It seems I have been posting in spirts these days and not been posting regularly  I want to give you all regular posts. So I have decided Outfit of the days are one of the easiest posts for me to put together. I enjoy being creative with my dress and strive to glorify God through it. So you will be seeing more outfit posts on here. With school I have not been creating as much in the sewing department or reenacting as much as I would like. I am excited to churn out outfits from the clothing I already have in my closet. I enjoy reading other blog that focus on fashion. So here it goes, I will try to be a semi fashion blogger. :)

I have been loving my leggings this winter. I wear them with dresses, skirts, and even under jeans to keep warm. So you will be seeing these a lot!

I bought the fushia beanie from the etsy store called Sennursasa. I wear it almost daily in the cold winter months. Its a fun color and so warm and comfy! Be sure to check out her etsy store for beautiful knitted items.

I found the denim jacket with the fur collar at a consignment store when i was shopping with a friend and I love it! My sister Bethany says its not her favorite, but I think it adds some casual charm to any outfit worn the right way. It can look frumpy with long skirts or jeans, so I wear it with more feminine dresses/skirts and it works.

Have a lovely rest of your Monday God bless you! Oh and a big thank you to my sister Bethany for taking the pictures. Isn't she a great photographer! She knows how to make me smile. :) What are you all up to today? I practiced piano for 2 hours this morning for exams and then went to lunch with my sister and another friend at Panera Bread. Now we took pictures and I am getting ready to drink a cup of tea and sing my heart out for a few hours to study for exams. I am learning The Music of the Night from the Phantom of the Opera and its so fun to sing!

Battle of the Bulge 2013

Hi everyone!

I have hardly any pictures to show for it, but I did attend the Battle of the Bulge reenactment in January. I wish I had more pictures, but here are a few.

I am not sure what was going with these soldiers, but poor them having to drill in the snow!

I wore my great grandmothers coat from the 1940s the whole weekend for warmth. It makes me look huge, but thats ok. I rather be warm and look fat, than skinny and cold. ;) It was fun taking pictures in front of this jeep. I know I should have done outfits pictures each day while I was there, but alas I did not think of it.

No ladies, I did not wear those ugly boots to the dance, I just wore them to walk there in the snow. I changed into my dance shoes when we got there. ;)
This blue dress was the only dress I wore the whole time, I wore skirt and blouses each day except for this dress to the dances. I bought it at the flea market at the event actually for only $30.00. It was a bargain and I was so excited to find it. I think its silk, but it could be polyester. My friend Rebecca, yes her name is Rebecca too helped me add in a handkerchief insert to make it modest. What an ingenious idea! I never would have thought of that and she thought of it right away.

Rebecca and Rebecca. ;)

Another new friend Raquel and I before I went to the dance. She was so kind to help me with my hair. I wish I could replicate this hairstyle as well as she did it that night.

Tonight I attempted to do victory rolls again and its sort of sad how they turned out. But I plan to keep practicing to get them up to par soon.

I hope this post was fun to read and look at despite the lack of pictures. I did not realize I did not take many pictures until I got my camera back. Oh well!
